Veterinary Wellness Movement

Veterinary Wellness Movement

Part of the mission of Thrive Veterinary Surgical Services is to promote personal wellness amongst veterinary professionals. Burn out, compassion fatigue, depression, and suicide are more prevalent in veterinary medicine when compared to other healthcare professions and the suicide rate is 4 times that of the general population. Although these issues have become topics of conversation in recent years on the national level, they are still not widely discussed on the clinic floor. Having the resources, support, and confidence to talk about professional mental health could save a co-worker’s life, improve personal job satisfaction/longevity, and help create a more positive and sustainable work environment. Cultivation of a healthier profession will allow us to better serve the pets and pet owners of our community.
